How long do you plan on keeping your MB???
A lot of MB owners tend to lease, so I figured I'd ask who's bought out there, and if so for how long do you intend to keep your car? Most people are freighted by the associated high maintenance costs of owning a Mercedes Benz and so choose to lease, when in reality these cars are really no more expensive than others, it's just how you go about servicing and maintaining your MB.

Considering I have never owned an MB with a warranty, my poll choice is self-evident. Of the 8 MB's I've ever owned, 2 were 'totaled', 2 were sold (simply too many vehicles), and 4 are presently owned. I would never buy an MB new - lose too much just driving off the lot. I know... my sister works for Mercedes.

I got the car in March 2006, but its been in my family since Jan. 2005. It used to be my sisters car & I took over her payments and she got a new car.
Hoping to get a 2003+ CL500 & one day an AMG
But maybe after the CLK, I might want to get a BMW. I just sold my 740iL 6 weeks ago & miss it.

My W140 is fully paid for. This car is a dream to drive. I've been to several auto shows & quite frankly, not many newer cars out there impress me with their looks or features enough for me to get rid of mine. So I'm keeping it till the wheels fall off.

07 Bluetec P2 package panaroma sunroof wood and leather steering wheel, keyless go
Hello all. Been away for awhile moving and unpacking. This was my first mercedes and I bought it through the Euro delivery program. I normally serviced my cars myself and kept them all untill I just couldn't see spending that much repairing a vehicle for more than it's worth or I just wanted something new. My last work car was a second hand 93 Madza Protege. I still have my ford expedition 97 w/ 125k When the CDI's were released in 05 I new I had to have one. I was dead set on buying used but when I could finally afford them in late 06 it was more expensive to buy used then to buy new for all the options that I got, plus I got a trip to Germany. I really love this car and will continue to love it untill 1. I hit the Powerball and money doesn't matter!( My wife said she would drive it then)((She doesn't value cars the way I do, all she wanted was a six cylinder a sunroof and CD player)) I digress, but I see myself in this car for a long long long long time! I didn't get the extended warrantee bucause after I run it out I will do the maintenance myself. I drive about 85 miles a day to and fro work.

MBWorld Fanatic!
just took delivery of an 08 E550. Will keep it until the 7yrs/100k mi warranty is up or 6 months short of it ending. I don't think its realistic to keep this car outside of warranty as I have with our old 1989 420SEL which still works year after year with just basic maintenance.

2004 SL600
I had a '03 CLK convertible that had very few problems in 2 years-26k miles. I'm totally confident in the hard mechanical parts. It's the electronics that scare me.
But I just traded for a '04 SL600 with extended warranty until 100K miles. We'll see what problems I encounter. I don't think I can find a nicer AND faster car, so if she treats me well, she can stay. If she's a PITA... to the curb.

1999 S320 LWB
Since my car is well out of warranty, I can't really choose one of the poll options, but I intend on keeping my '99 S320 for many years. I love this car, even though it is "only" the 6 cylinder, it's really an awesome car. I've wanted a W140 for years, and I don't mean I just "wanted" one....the W140, along with the Aston Martin Lagonda and 72-79 Lincoln Mark IV and V are my three favorite cars of all time, so needless to say, I'm very happy that I've been lucky enough to own one at my young age of 20.
Hell, I don't even know what I'd want to replace it with...I know I want a big classic american luxury car to have along side it at some point, but not to replace it.

Aloha everyone,
I will be purchasing a W164 next month, but my wife wants to get a W204 once mine gets paid off, so I'll have to keep it until both are paid off. That should be about 8 years or so. I'm not the leasing kind anyway, and I tend to think I'll be driving it for a while longer than just 8 years anyway. I've always wanted to purchase a Mercedes, but never thought I'd actually be in a position to do so. I just hope the reality is as good as the fantasy hehehe

2006 E320 CDI
My 2006 E320 CDI was bought to be the Sunday driver. She sits in the garage with a car cover and gets driven maybe 1000 miles a month. We plan on keeping the car a long time. Ed B
