Currently E200 looking at upgrade to E350 currently.
Question Can you have a 211 MY07 code for an August 2006 build?

G'Day from Downunder (Australia), I am looking to upgrade my E200 to an E350. When looking at insurance two separate insurance companies have asked if it is a 2006 MY06 or a 2006 MY07? I always thought 'MY' stood for Manufacturing Year hence how can you have an August 2006 built MY07?

Also is there much difference between an August 2006 E350 vs a current one? I ask as a dealer has this August 2006 built E350 with only 280kms on it (still unregistered used only for test drives), as now newer model offering a good deal - still full warranty from registration date. Any views? Price difference A$14,000 less than current build and the car looking at has the Harman / Kardon sound system included, not something I would normally want but hey it's already there.

Thanks for any help received.

Kind regards

2000 = MY01
......
......
2006 = MY07

That is how it works.

Hi Benzmodz, So the insurance companies are off the plant then? The are asking me to chose either MY06 or MY07 for a car built 2006 (they didn't ask build month). From what you are saying it must be a MY07 right? Thanks for your help.

If there is a visual difference in the models (facelift) then it does matter. You can buy a car in 2007 that was built in 2006 and so on. I dont really know what your insurance company is talking about. Half the time they make no sense at all.

I did my insurance renewal and within 30 minutes I got a 35% discount by asking them to apply their own rules to my policy. You would think that someone getting paid that amount of money would do that for you but apparently people just hand over money without asking.

MY = Model Year

You can have a car manufactured in 2006 which could be a model year 2007. Usually that happens later in the year. Early 2006 would probably be a MY06 and from June/July 2006 on, it would be MY07.
Hope that helps.
