why wholesale
Just wanted to get some feed back from any car dealers on here. Why is it when you go to trade in a car they offer you wholesale and seem to have the car for sale at the highest kbb, nada retail? It use to be where you would at least get nada, or kbb trade in value but now they only want to buy at wholesale? Just seems like the car dealers are really getting greedy and trying to make as much profit as they can.

Another answer is that the manufacturers have squeezed the dealers with much less of a discount. Used to be that dealers made about a 25 percent markup, now they are lucky to get 7 to 10% and their costs have increased. The difference has to come from somewhere and there is no place else but the trades/used cars.

But that's the whole point of capitalism - charge too much, and your customers are free to turn to alternatives - and if the alternatives aren't there, somebody will see the opportunity and invest in it.
