Any Geography majors in here??

anyone here good at geography? got few questions...
1.A consequence of the current elliptical character of the earths orbit round the sun is that the northern winters are cooler than the southern winters. (T/F)??
2. The sun is at one of the foci of the earths orbital path round the sun. (T/F)??
3.The globe is the only map that accurately portrays all spatial relationships
characteristic of the earths surface.(T/F)??
4.The polar speed of the earth of the earth rotation is higher than the equatorial speed. (T/F)??
5.Geography is a discipline defined by a specific body of content and subject matter rather than by an approach. (T/F)
6. Systems methodology is not applicable to physical geography. (T/F)??
7. The earth is an example of an open system in terms of materials and a closed system in terms of energy.(T/F)
8. If you were standing at 60degree north latitude you would b within which latitudinal geographical zone??

Okay, I'll bite but remember it's been over 50 years since I took geography.

1. - 7. Ans = False
8. Ans = d

Although, it looks like quite a few astronomy questions mixed into some geography. Do these 5th graders already know where Zimbabwe is and it's topography?

1) Explain why it is true that for every pair of points on the globe there is a unique great circle through them if the points are not antipodal. What happens if they are antipodal?

2)Recall Eratosthenes experiment set up to determine earth's circumference and assume this obelisk is 10ft tall. Whats the length of the shadow cast by it in Alexandra on June 21st, the day of the experiment.

3)whats the distance seperating the equator and lat.40degreee North along the prime meridian?

4) For each of the following latitudes, determine the distance between 0 deg and 15 deg East longititude:
a)30deg North Latitude. b)60deg North latitude.
c) The Tropic of Capricon

5) (TorF) Every pair of antipodal points of the surface of the earth must have exactly one great circle passing through it.

6) (TorF) Any pair of points on the surface of the earth lies on a unique great circle.

7) (TorF) The shortest distance between any two points on the spherical surface of the earth is the straight line distance between them.

8)Is it true that the angular distance between a persons horizon and the polaris measure the persons latitude? Prove the validity of your answer.

9) Consider an ellipse with semi-major and semi-minor axis respectively 5miles and 4.5 miles. Determine
a) the eccentricity of the ellipse.
b) the index of the oblateness of the ellipse.
