This MB reliability problem could have turned into a safety problem...
...and potentially a deadly one, at that.

On Sunday around 4 p.m. the owner of a 2007 Mercedes GL450 was driving along the Post Road when he encountered electrical window problems. The windows suddenly started to go up and down uncontrollably.
He pulled his car over and decided to have his car towed to the nearby Mercedes-Benz dealer at 261 W. Putnam.
About an hour later, after being towed to the Mercedes lot to await servicing, a fire erupted in the vehicle, with flames shooting skyward.
"That fire could have started while he was driving," said Fire Inspector Larry Roberts of the owner of the Mercedes who had made what appeared to be a wise decision to have his car towed. Roberts would not reveal the owner's name.
Russ Beard, Mercedes-Benz Greenwich general manager, was unavailable for comment. But Roberts said the owner had shared that this car had not had any maintenance problems; the trouble appeared to be an electrical malfunction.
