I was shocked, but he took one out of the case and we handled it and it was amazing... it was the white elephant SSLK model which is said to have over 1800 different parts, and when you study it carefully, you'll se that the suspension is functional, down to the real leaf springs and torsion bars.. The engine alone has some 500 parts.. The way the costs are kept down is they're manufactured in China, which sort of bugs me, but you have to believe if there were made in Germany, they'd be over $2000 each.. I've got German brass model trains that are not as well detailed that cost closet to $3000 so I'm sure that would be on the low side of the estimate.
Anyway, I've not been able to take some pictures of them to do them justice, so I stole some good pics of the internet of the two that I bought..
