If you do take your car to a car wash, tip them please!!! I usually drop a dollar in the "tip jar" provided. Remember, if a jar is provided, these people expect tips. If it's at a dealership car wash and the dealer doesn't prohibit it, tip them at your discretion. In my case (I allowed them was my cars twice and stopped the insanity after noticing scratches), the car is usually washed by the time I get to pick it up. So, I don't get a chance to meet the washers!!!

I live up in Northern California (San Francisco) and go to the local car wash. While a typical car wash is expensive here ... appx. $20 I always tip. Those workers are probably paid minimum wages and in this economy this need all the help they can get.
One of my pet peeves about going to car washes, people in Northern California don't understand that you stay in your car till you get to the guys in the vacuum station. I've seen so many people fall in line, order what wash, and then just leave the car. Beit they're the next or the 10th in line to get their cars vacuumed. Ugh!
