E55 & CL55 counsel needed

E55 & CL55 counsel needed
First let me state that I am new to this forum and have never owned a MB.
For quite awhile I have observed the evolution of the AMG involvement and
MB and think I am ready to purchase a AMG product. I have owned a few
BMW models and use the E39 M5 as my yardstick.
Due to economic pressures I am increasing the size of the territory my company will perform services in and anticipate spending a fair amount of
time on the road. I like to travel in comfort and style with performance as
the #1 priority. Besides the obvious 4 doors vs 2 doors what are the pros
and cons of the E55 vs CL55.
The vehicle will be used to run highway trips of a few hundred miles a couple of times a week. It will normally only have 1 or 2 adults in it. I am
looking at the model years 03-06 because of the great prices out there now.
As stated performance is #1 and the MB style is timeless but I need help with this decision because I know nothing of the personal characteristics or the reliability of these two models. All advice will be
greatly valued and respected.

GL550, C55, 335i Coupe, vintage Mustang
If performance is number 1, get an 06 CL65, reliability is the same as the 55, with much more power on tap. Back seat is still there if needed, but like you said, will not be used much at all.

I'd go for the CL even though its styling is made pretty obsolete by the '07 version.
It's a 2-door S-class essentially, meaning it's a big step up from the E-class.
