This should be in the ML forum but anyway - you have an '02 ML so it already has the MCS (the screen setup) as well as all wiring, etc. So all you need is the NAV module. You can get either the pre-2003 MCS nav module, which is CD-based (different CD's for each region), or the '03 DVD-based module (1 DVD for all of US and Canada).

It should be just a relatively simple module insertion (it goes into the slot behind the screen) - installation instructions are available online - not too much of a hassle. However the voice-prompt may require dealer activation. The DVD unit runs about $1200 these days, and the DVD itself costs about $250. The CD unit costs almost the same - maybe a little less, and each CD costs about $150.

As far as sources, some dealers have good prices, but the vast majority charge way too much. Look around online - places like clairparts, formymercedes, etc. have the unit. All you need is the nav module for the MCS. BTW the US ML's nav (the MCS system) is completely different from the rest of the US model MB's, which use the COMAND system.

Hope it helps.

2002 CLK320
Steve, aka MBenzNL, did the Euro Comand retro on my father-in-laws 2000 or 2001 ML and it works great. Forget the module, rip the stock deck out and slap a Euro one in. Check the other areas for a huge thread about his trip to the US in a week or so.

I'm having him do the retro on the Comand for my CLK when he's in town next month. Depending on where you live, he may be able to help you install one, but you have to let him know like NOW so he can pack one for the trip.

djyoo,

I'm trying to organize a DC area installation of the European Command system. Steve (MBenzNL) is going to be in New York at the beginning of February doing installations. If we can get enough interest here in Northern Virginia, I have offered him the use of my 2-car garage to do some installs down here. I am located 30 minutes west of DC in Sterling, VA.

Contact Steve if you are interested. Price is $1,300 with a $200 advance payment which includes a used/refurbished Command, all installation related parts and installation.

Contact him SOON as he will be shipping the hardware in the next week or so...
