missing car
My friend placed a deposit on a 2003 CLK 320 on 10/25/02 at Silver Star Mercedes Benz with salesman, Owen Taback, Long Island City, NY.
He called the dealership on or about Jan 15th ,2003, to find out the status of car.
He was told by Owen "it vanished from the radar"
The sales manager reiterated this claim. No additional explanation was given.
The salesman then offered to sell my friend a used SL500 for $61.900
He declined the offer.
Can someone give me an explanation for the vanished vehicle? Is this the treatment we expect from MB dealership?

My opinion is they sold the car to someone else. Or they took an order for a car they didn't have an allocation for, hoping to work out a deal with another dealer. Mercedes cars do not "vanish from the radar". Or, they could be practicing the old bait and switch routine. Your friend should contact MBUSA about this dealer.
