Infrared Keyless Entry

Has anyone had any trouble with the range on the keyless entry? The range of my smart key is pathetic...almost have to be on top of the car. The dealer indicated that my model just had very poor range and suggested that I do nothing. Is this true? Would replacing the battery help?

You probably have weak batteries.

That's what I guessed. You'd think the dealer would just suggest I try that. I should have just insisted that I replace the battery. Helpful dealership I have?
