Jaguar VS SL which convertible to buy?
Which would you rather get for around $35K, a 2004 or 2005 SL500 or a 2007 Jaguar XK8 cabrio? I know I won't get an unbaised answer on a Benz

You know what they say about Jags...you need 2--one in the garage and one in the shop. I love the look of the XK8 and XKR, but they are not the most reliable cars out there. The SL has it's issues, but I think in the long run, you'll enjoy the SL. Just make sure you do the necessary homework--you don't want to inherit someone else's headache.

05 SL500, 02 BMW Z3 (Mrs. VF), 05 FJR1300, 91 ZX-11
I parked next to an XK8 in the airport last week, very sexy. The deal breaker for me is the soft top vs hard top. I had a CLK with a cloth top and it was too loud. The folding hard top is as quiet as a regular car.
I've also heard that Jags make Mercedes seem as reliable as Hondas.

Jag will never have the "awe" factor the SL will , like just when cruising or when pulling up somewhere. Its amazing what it does to normal public....regardless if youre going for this it will happen.
