Purchasing Information

Greetings everyone,

I have what may seem like a silly question to some of you but perhaps you will help me out anyway.

I have always purchased cars new from local dealers. For the first time in my life I am considering the purchase of a MB that is privately owned and out of state. The current owner has the title in hand so there won't be a need to deal with lein holder.

So, basically what I am looking for are the do's and dont's of out of state transactions like this. I will be traveling to Maryland to take a look at the car and need to know what to do when I get there if I decided to pick it up. My plan is as follows, so let me know if I am off track somewhere.

1. Inspection at local MB dealership
2. Bill of sale to be completed
3. Sign over of title, take possession of keys
4. Wire transfer of the funds from my account to his
5. Transport vehicle back to FL via transport service.
6. Take title to local DMV and make transfer, registration and plate.
7. Enjoy new ride

Did I miss anything in there? Is there a way to do something differnet which makes the transaction more safe for me.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Eric

Will be nice to call your insurance agent before the drive back but maybe not strictly necessary.
