1984 Mercedes 300TD: purchasing question
I'm considering buying a mint condition 1984 300TD

I would like your opinions on how much you would pay for something like this. Please specify if you're quoting USD or CDN. I'll wait for a few replies and then I'll let you know how much the owner wants for it.
Thanks

In excellent condition, I would expect to pay between $6 and $8k USD for the sedan, maybe a bit more for the wagon, since they were more scarce.
The wagon I'm looking at is a bit of a fixer-uper, though there is virtually no body damage or rust, and the interior is clean (except for an after-market radio). It is in the color combo I covet, though I would kill for a red/saddle combo.
Anyway, it is my opinion that even if the car is excellently maintained, unless it has undergone a significant restoration, it can be a big financial undertaking. Why spend that at the onset? Yikes: the suspension alone!
My friend just inherited her granny's 1982 Volvo. Granny had the oil changed and the car serviced consistently, and it had only 50k miles on it. Even though the car is pristine, its age has taken its toll. My friend has it in the shop every other week.
There's more than my $0.02 (USD!). Post with your decision.
