Air Conditioning Won't Work

I have a 2002 CL600 (W215) with 115500 miles on it. Just today, my "AC OFF" light came (not in the dashboard but by the climate control buttons). It's a red light and I usually turn it off in the winter time for the car to blow warmer air. However, since it's summer time, warm air doesn't help.

I went over to my local mb indie shop and we checked out some issues. Initially, I thought it was low on freon but the car is full of freon with no leaks. Next, we reset to see if it was any software issue but that didn't help either. The light was still lit red.

Basically everything is fine except the air is blowing warm without any "conditioning."

This is the first time I've ever had any a/c related issue.

What do you think it is?

Thanks for your time.

silly, but I saw it in a different section. Severly clogged cabin filters caused a poster to lose "cool" after all else was checked.
