03-06 E55 AMG Questions....
I am brand new to the forums.
I am brand new to Mercedes. Never owned one, although dreamed for a long time.
Anyways, I have my heart set on one car only...a 2003-2006 E55, for obvious reasons.
My questions are...
Is one year better than the other? I know the 2003s lacked some options the 2004-2006s sometimes had, but I'm more concerned with mechanicals.
Is there sometimes problems related to the motor / drive-train on higher milage E55's? I also know the motors are hand-built and supposedly bulletproof, but I'm looking for owners who want to fill me in on the ups and downs and what I should be looking for in terms of years and milage.
I've been looking at different E55's for over 2 months now, but I was hoping people from this forum with experience could give me there 2,3,and 4cents about this car. I am a sponge so any information posted will be greatly appreciated.
I am getting out of the subaru scene, and the old love of my life is up for sale

Welcome.
Some 2003-04 cars have/had a problem with coolant contaminating the transmission. To me, the real decision about what year to look for depends on if you like clam shell armrest or the sliding wood door armrest. Go to the w211 AMG forum and start reading. There are many threads with relevant information.
