keeping the star safe?

Yesterday morning while we were at the lab, some punks apparently tried to rip off the hood ornament. The thing just flopped around, quite loose. Fortunately, our MB salesperson -- who volunteered to help even after we said we were going to see the service people -- put it back into place with some pliers.

How often does this happen, and is there a way to maybe hook this thing up to the alarm system? I can forsee a reasonable amount of hood damage occurring when the next round of punks comes by with a chain or something and gives the thing a good yank. And now that it's warmer, the punks'll be out a lot more.

the horn. This may result in some wet spots on the ground in front of your car....Mercedes also sells a replacement Star that pops out easily enough to take with you when you're away from the car.

Shoot, I need one of those! I park often in a somewhat "questionable" neighborhood and I worry constantly about that. Someone just comes along and says, "Oh that's nice!" and rips it off the hood of the car and I'm screwed.

Thanks, I didn't know about the pop-out replacements.

You know, the horn thing would be fun though. Kinda reminds me of when I used to put hot sauce (Pure Cap, Vicious Viper, etc) on my sandwiches when a couple janitors started stealing our food. If they're going to rip us off, at least give them something to remember.

electrocution!

I knew of a person a few years back who somehow made it shock people who touched it. Not sure how they did it, but they never lost their star. I thought that hood craze went out about 7 years ago. Guess not! Why can't people just get one from the dealer? They're not that expensive. Besides, when was the last time it was cool to have a M-B star around your neck?!
