Question How to remove sticker adhesive from fabric sun visor?

I have been doing a lot of searching and research through the forums and didn't find much helpful information on how to remove the sticker adhesive from fabric visors. I have a 2009 cls550 and the previous owner removed the stickers a while ago but it looks like there is a rectangle faded/white area on the visors which looks like the left-over adhesive that was never removed. So how can I remove the adhesive carefully from the fabric visor without damaging, pulling, tearing or discoloring the fabric? Any suggestions??

isopropyl rubbing alcohol should do the trick...put some on a clean, dry cloth and rub the adhesive. should come right off.

I've used GooGone on 3-4 cars, no residue, evaporates quickly.

Lighter fluid will leave behind a foul smell, I think!

Nah; I use it all the time for goo removal and it doesn't leave a smell, foul or otherwise.

Hey, 1,000 posts for you; congrats!

They all sound like decent ideas....here is a pic to show you what i'm dealing with. It feels like there may be a very thin layer of adhesive on there but i'm not sure...what does everyone think I should do?

Goof Off worked for me when Goo Gone failed.

Did Goof off leave any residue per previous post?

No, but you can still see a very slight outline if viewed at the right angle of where the sticker was. I doubt you'll find anything to make the impression completely disappear. Also, Goof Off is more toxic so don't let it soak in.

new airbag sticker

I ended up going to the dealer and buying a replacement sticker for $7....i figured it wasn't worth ruining the visor and making it look worse. Yes, it does have the sticker on it but at least it's not an eye-sore anymore.

Smart move, a new sticker is much cheaper than a new visor. On an older Benz of mine I used rubbing alcohol and it worked, but I could still slightly see a light shadow where the sticker was previously located.

Have you been able to get rid of the sticky residue?

Go figure... Today the passenger side airbag sticker fell off the visor. But, this is on a S550 MERCEDES. First of all, I hate these stickers to begin with, but now that it fell off, the area is darker and the glue from it the visor left a perfect square. I guess I have to put this ugly thing back on? I can't believe there isn't a SAFE way to clean the visor fabric so we can just leave it off..

Perhaps...have a custom sticker made.
Your name, model number, photo of a beach for example.

Haha, this is a great idea! I'm racking my brains, but there's got to be something truly ingenious you could put on it...

Try a product called AFTA, available @ Home Depot. Removes most adhesives.
