HBL Collision Facility
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending a Social and Tech event at the HBL Collision Center in Tyson’s Corner, VA.
This event was sponsored by the Greater Washington Sector of the Mercedes Benz Club of America.
What a truly eye opening experience, I toured the entire collision facility. You really see what goes into repairing your car in the event of an accident.
After the initial greeting we were briefed by the Manager of the Dealership, who had brought in 5 Techs, with background in Cost Estimation, Paint, Body, Repair and Management.
After briefly talking about each person’s responsibility, he opened it up to Q&A. Many question were asked, one topic of interest, was the used of PPG’s water based paints.
Which is a major change from the solvent based paints used in the pass. The new PPG Enviro based paints products, is a mandate that all paint manufacturers are going to, because it is friendly to the environment.
We seen various Mercedes in their different states of repair, the jig that are used to straighten a cars frame, to get the suspension geometry corrected. They shows us the inspection and paint booths, the vehicle tear down area, the straightening jigs, and the general tour of the facility which was impressive. I apologize for the crummy iPhone photos. But I can tell you one thing, if your ever involved in accident, you'll want your car repaired at a facility such as this.
