430 Clk Amg
#2
There is no such thing as a CLK430 AMG. If someone has a 430CLK with an AMG badge, it's a misrepresentation of the car being an AMG tuned car. Some believe that its ok to put an AMG badge on a CLK with AMG parts, but AMG doesn't recognize it and its not considered an AMG. The CLK430 does have some AMG parts (air dam, side skirts, reap apron, wheels), but it is not considered an "AMG". The only AMG (in US markets) for the CLK line is the CLK55.

A lot of you have good arguments in this thread concerning your opinions about those who "pose" the AMG badge on a non-AMG vehicle. I have a 2002 CLK 430 with the AMG sport package as well, however, find it completely preposterous to claim fame of having a true AMG without all the whistles and bells of an AMG. To break the monotony and ease the pain of the argument, for those of you who are familiar with the term "authenticity", please step forward.
If you are posing an AMG badge on a vehicle which does not deserve that commendation; i.e. lacking all accessories required in which to be deemed "authentic", you're wrong. What members of this site are trying to clarify to you is that there is no such thing as a CLK 430 "AMG". The CLK55 precedes the 430 due solely by the extent of its added features and accessories by the manufacturer. The VIN number on the vehicle will also indicate "authenticity". Should you go to the dealership for any reason concerning maintenance of your vehicle, you will find that your VIN will specify the differentiation of your CLK regardless of what accessories you add to it.
A 1993 fox-body LX mustang is not considered a Saleen because it has a wing on the trunk, a kit, and SALEEN sticker across the windshield. You may fool others with your attempt to wrongfully and falsely pimp your fakeness, but you won't fool the enthusiasts nor the dealership. I have grown extremely fond of the Mercedes Benz brand and have conducted, in immeasurable breadth, research and study into its history. Especially after having owned several. I recently bought my wife a 2008 CLS 550 a few months ago....and no, its not a CLS 63. Hope this clears things up.
