I do not trust CarFax. I had a rear-impact accident with my previous car in summer of 1997. It involved police, though no tickets were issued. My car had $7,000+ in insurance paid repairs. The other vehicle had repairs too, though not as severe.

Carfax never reported the accident when I checked it last year, showing my previous car to have a clean record. Even though this accident did involve police, police reports, and insurance payments.

So I don't have a lot of trust in CarFax.

Ditto. My car was totalled in 1998 (rear-ended on a highway). Carfax missed that little episode (in fact, I sold it a month later with a clean title).

if it was truly totaled, then your insurance company must have known and would not have allowed a clean title to be issued...how'd you swing that?
