Ambient light in cabin too dim?

Hi guys,

After recently acquiring my very first mercedes a few weeks ago (C320 CDI '08), I had a question regarding the ambient lighting that's equipped on the vehicle...

I notice there's orange/amber colored ambient lighting at the front footwells and also on the bottom of the rear view mirror, which shines down on centre console/gear stick, but the lighting is really dim.... Is there anyway to adjust the brightness of the lighting?

Is it suppose to be this dim? (barely visible in complete darkness)... Or doe the bulbs possibly need changing? I dont have any other C-classes that i can compare too...

I've been in other european vehicles fitted with ambient lighting, and the lighting is a lot more noticeable...

Please advise. Thanks
