Headrest popped out can't reset

Headrest popped out can't reset
Hi,
The front passenger headrest on my ml 350, 2008, popped up after being rear ended. I am following the instructions in the manual. It slides all the way in and seems to get into the right final position, but the is no clicking sound and nothing engages. As Soon as I let go it pops back out.
There is a little metal hook inside, can it be the problem if it is in the locked position?
