Ignition Key Will Not Turn CLK 430 2000
The ignition key for my 2000 clk 430 will not turn. Works locks and trunk etc. Checked underhood fuse. Could it be key battery and if so where can I get battery for key (dealer only?) if not key battery then what?
Appreciate any suggestions.

EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch) or the Key itself. Use your spare key, and if you don't have one, buy a key and recheck!

Should have been programmed already, and should not have cost you more that $250.00 with the new blade!

CLK 430
I have another problem though. Now that I got my car back, 'when the car is off with no key' the gears can be shifted without the car on.
I thought there was a switch to make the transmission be shiftable without a key, but my model car doesn't have that feature.
does anyone know what may be wrong?

Hello,
Based on my experience with the E-320 and CLK 430, in the gear shifter under "D" there should be a small opening big enough for a pencil head to go through. Insert it and try shifting the gear all the way down to Drive from park and back to park. Take out the stick and it should lock back on its own.
If not, see your dealer to be safe.
