Starmark Coverage

What coverage does Starmark provide? I'm looking at an '03 used E500 that's been "Starmarked." It's got its original factory warranty, but I'm unclear as to how the Starmark extends that time, and exactly what it covers. The mbusa.com site isn't helpful -- says to contact your dealer. Anyway, I'm curious, if anyone has any info, I'd be appreciative.

... and yes, I've already done a search of the forums.

I've already taken a look -- it's got some vague details as to major components that are covered, but it said to ask your salesperson for a detailed brochure.

Again, I'm wondering if anyone here knows more details than that. Thanks.

I have two years left on my Starmark warranty for my 95 W 202 and it covers pretty much everything, like powertrain, engine, interior, exterior, etc. I read the brochure that came with it and it's very comprehensive, it's like buying a new car. Good thing cause if you're buying a post 2K Benz you're gonna need it! LOL!

Haha, you're right, it seems most post-'00 MBs will need it!

Sounds like it's basically the same as a new car warranty. Thanks for the info!

C320
I picked up a 2001, C320 with 17,500 miles Starmark certified. This is first used car I purchased and I think it has a better warranty than new. The Starmark adds 1 year to the existing warranty plus the milage is extended to 100K. So I have a 3 year bumper to bumper 100K warranty.
Before I picked the car up it was completely gone over, 4 new tires, all fluids changed, new brakes and rotors. I went over the exterior and make note of ever dent, swirl mark, every little imprefection I could find. Before I picked the car up I went back over it and every imprefection of the exterior was corrected. The interior was better than brand new, completely gone over, carpets cleaned and new floor mats. I even kept the old ones to use in the winter.
I was impressed by the Starmark certification, I'm sure that was in the price somewhere. That is why I went over every part of the car, inside and out. The salesman never gave me a hard time on anything, no matter how small. I was really pushing him to on some of the stuff.
From personal experience, if you find a used car with the options you want I would not hesitate from buying it. The original owner took the big hit on the depreciation the first 2 years.
I don't think I would buy a MB without Starmark.

There are few things that the Starmark extended warranty doesn't cover, to include the COMAND unit and interior trim pieces. So, I just had my COMAND replaced, and any deteriorating trim replaced prior to factory warranty expiring.
