A word about exhaust smoke on start up
For the first time, I noticed smoke from the passenger side exhaust on my 07 CLS550 on start up. Nothing major, it clears right up after a few seconds, and doesn't show again until the car sits overnight.
Looking for answers, I conducted a search on MB forums, in an effort to find out if this is a reoccurring issue. I am shocked, and quite frankly, amazed at the number of folks who are of the opinion that it's normal. I'm sorry, but there is nothing normal about an engine that smokes, unless you drive a diesel. There are fluids present in parts of the engine where it shouldn't be, or in an amount that is excessive. Some well meaning members say that reputable mechanics have told them that it's normal, when we all know, instinctively, that there's something amiss. After all, if it was normal, it would have happened from the beginning, as in, when you drove it home from the dealer.
Finally, Let me say that the car will be going back to Mercedes to have this issue resolved. I will post the diagnosis here, and if the Technician tells me that, "It's normal", then I will be trading for a Lexus, or BMW. I think that a car that smokes is a menace to society, not to mention, embarrassing to drive.
There, I've said my peace.
