SF Bay area techs

My driver's side rear window "fell down" today. I was rolling up the window (one touch), and when it was about four inches from the completely closed position, I heard a bunch of clicking noises and the window stopped moving. I thought it sounded like a clip falling off inside of the door.

After I got out of the car, I tried to roll it up from the outside using the IR portion of the key, there was one more click, and then the window fell all the way open. doh! It was pretty funny, except it was my car. ugh.

I need a tech in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I don't really care too much whether it is a dealer or not, just need competent work done. I have read that the manuals are on CD for this beast (1999 E320), and I don't have them (yet?). I just bought this car yesterday, and the previous owner threw some names out at me of local dealers, I don't know if they are any good or not, I also don't know if this is something which would be covered under warranty or not.

The car has only 38000 miles, so that's a good thing, and it is only 4 years old, but.....

thanks in advance,
rob

take the door apart and look inside to see what failed. Might as well give it a try before throwing all that cash away.

Yes, I could have saved a bit of cash if I had done that, I think. I took it to "Exclusively German" on Minnis Circle in Milpitas and they fixed the window strut which had wrapped the cable all around the pulley and snapped. I could have only saved 100 dollars in labor, so it was a bit of a trade off.

Best tech in the Bay

I take all my cars to Topline Performance in Burlingame, CA. They are authorized install techs for Kleemann. I know for a fact that even AutoBahn mercedes dealer takes their cars to Topline for troubleshooting.

Owner of the shop is Zim, and he has fixed more of my problems than any other tech. Ive owned a handful of them all listed below. Call him at 650-558-8999 and tell him Phil sent ya.

Thats Zim's car.
