Kickdown button

If you are at a stand-still, what is the difference between launching the car at full-throttle WITHOUT pushing the button and WITH pushing the button?

i would think that there would be a little difference maybe after 1st, or towards the end of first

Kain...

If,just to be different, you'd put some thought into this, you will realize that there is no difference in either case. The gearbox can't drop any lower than 1st gear.Kickdown can only function in 2nd gear or higher.

Well gee, Mercedes-Benz is the last car I would want to know things about.

I thought with the kickdown the car shifts at red line and without it it wouldn't?

I would venture to guess that if you depress the kickdown buton anytime in the first gear it may just hold that gear a little longer. (not proven)

gee, if you knew about any car, you would know that the kickdown button only kicks down a gear. it does not change your shift point. full throttle will get you to redline. holding down the kickdown will only make you do more work because with each upshift, the pedal will start pushing back harder to get off of it.

If the kickdown button is the bubble underneth the peddle then I think I have an answer, abiet wrong though

I tried launching by flooring the Lexus and just gentley doing it. The kickdown button doesn't affect first gear at all but when used in unison WITH the power button it lets me take it till about redline.
