I have my doubt that MB will give them the go ahead for this car especially since they have plans of their own for 3 V10 Ferrari beaters within a few years. Cant have another supercar in the family can we.
Chrysler could probably get away with selling a Viper beater with the same concept. ~1350 kg with 600 bhp with a pricetag of $80K as well.

Umm, AMG will build one of the most powerful engines, sorry THE MOST POWERFUL ENGINE in the world for a Chrysler? And not for an SL/SLR?

However, no, the engine in the ME412 apparently is complete new from the ground up - it's not related to anything used in current production models.
While the ME412 would provide a very nice halo car for Chrysler (like the GT is for Ford), unfortunately I don't think there's even a chance that MB will let this go through for too many reasons to even list.
First being obvious - a production ME412 would be much much faster and more exotic than the SLR and definitely a fraction of the cost, which would not be good for MB's self-image. Second reason being that MB is apparently planning to create a separate McLaren brand of sports cars - a few of them being supercars designed to exceed the old F1 and be the fastest production car. Obviously, being even faster than this Chrysler would be quite a challenge, if not literally impossible. Think about it - a Chrysler outperforming a brand new McLaren? - that would be the DCX board's worst nightmare.
What I think will happen will be that the car will not be made (likely) or if it is, it'll be severely de-tuned to the point that it will no longer be special (likely worse than the first possibilty IMO).

Nice, but they compare it to a Ferrai Enzo and to McLaren F1 indirectly (by saying it will be the fastest street car ever produced). However, aren't both of those cars Naturally Aspirated, where as the Chrysler would be a Quad-Turbo, very different things in my opinion.
Much easier to make the fastest supercar that is force induced as opposed to naturally aspirated, takes a lot more to design a 3second or under 0-60 car without any super or turbochargers.
