Mercedes Benz GL450 2007
2007 GL450 Transmission Repair
I bought a 2007 GL450 from a reputable Mercedes dealership with 72k on the clock. At the time of purchasing the vehicle I did not see the reason to take out an extended warranty as the vehicle had relatively low mileage and had one previous owner. Also, we're supposed to be buying a 'bulletproof' brand that shouldn't have any issues. Right?
Fast forward 2k miles OR 2 months later and now I'm facing a repair of over $6,000 due to a transmission failure or torque converter breaking up. The dealer has thrown in the 'you should have taken out an extended warranty on your vehicle' from their playbook. I am so angry as with that repair cost plus the cost of the vehicle I could have bought a brand new vehicle.
I would like to know if anyone else has experienced a similar situation and how the issue was resolved (if at all).
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
