Just bought a used 2001 S430. Did all my research engine is great with 104k miles. I knew the airmatic could be problematic but didn't think it would come so quick. The dealer says they will fix it for $600. My research shows the part costs about $600. But I also got a quote from the specialty benz repair shop here in Broward County, Florida for $1703.00. They say they need to lift up the suspension($1703) and then look for leaks which could cost even more. I budgeted $1000.00 to fix the airmatic even before I bought the car for 6k. Which way should I go?

It's very unusual to see dealer prices below knowledgeable Indies. If you could give more information on the airmatic symptom we would be better able to advise.
