E63 brakes and rotors help

I have a 2011 E63 with 50k miles in need of new pads on the front and rear. the mechanic recommends changing rotors and pads to avoid future brake noise and squeal. Any experience with changing pads only? The front rotors are about $1,000 each alone. Thanks

rotors

Have the rotors been changed before? 50k miles is excellent mileage for original rotors. You need to change them.

The front rotors have a minimum thickness.
So check that first.

Your mechanic is offering good advice.

If you do not have minimum thickness you could turn the rotors, yet you now have the risk of rotor wrap quicker than expected.

Just pads? Risk of brake squeal is high. Stopping distance may increase.

If you are keeping the car, do rotors and pads IMO.

Yes AMG front rotors are typically "over the top" expensive.

Good luck with your decision.

First set of Rotors . Don't think they could be turned because they are slotted and drilled from what I understand. Has anyone used anything aftermarket? The mechanic tried to get Brembo rotors but the supply houses listed them as out of stock and no information on re-stocking.

I'm in a similar situation, when i bought the car i was told that the rotors are good for two sets of pads, any truth to this?

I replaced the rotors and pads about 30K miles ago... am i good for now or do i need to do the rotors too?
