Smog check and VIN verification?
Hi MB fans,
I just recently purchased a 2014 C-Class from a Mercedes dealership Maryland and had it shipped to Orange County, CA.
The dealer is requesting paperwork for a smog check and VIN verification. Is this required?
I called the CHP and asked to setup an appointment but then the Sherrif said that I could just drop by the DMV.
The response from the dealer is "Yes smog is required and if he can avoid the DMV and get the VIN inspection from an outside source that would be better. And I need originals for the CA DMV."
Is it just me or is this starting to sound a little shady? What am I really required to complete?
