DIY accumulator replacement

Hi

I have a w211 and the pump showed error c2131 brake( accumulator/ reservoir) I had the pump taken out and a secondhand one put in. Error c249F has just come up on new pump and will not be reset. I still have my old pump and can swap over accumulator.
Question: Once the pumps are removed from the car is it safe to just unscrew the accumulators? Is there any danger to my self once pumps are out of the and the accumulators unscrewed?
I can bleed brakes after with a star. I currently have 2 pumps on the floor of my garage and a quick reply would be helpful.
