VW Passat
Buying my first MB and going crazy over model choice.

I'm in the proccess of buying my first Mercedes. I have a family and this car will be used for daily driving to work/school and other needs. There will be a lot of shorts trips from few km/miles to 30 km/miles. Longer trips will happen few times a month. I do around 15000 miles or. 25000 kilometers a year.

I drive a VW Passat Estate now (diesel) and i usually drive a new car for 10 years.

I've checked all models available, my budget and i came down to 3 different choices. All have AMG trim and 4MATIC drive. I'll write what i love or hate about them.

- Mercedes E class T (estate), E220d, 4MATIC.

Don'ts:
Limusine is a much better looking car but there is no hight in the boot even with rear seats down. So i can't transport my pet in a big cage or a dog. T model even with AMG trim and silver color still looks like a hearse to me?
220d engine has low consumption but it's slow and i'm not sure if i want a diesel again.

Do's:
A lot of room in the car and in the boot. Great looking interior, great ride quality, cheap to run (consumption).

- Mercedes C class T (estate), C250d, 4MATIC.

Don'ts:
No decent petrol engine with 4MATIC (C400 is too much) so i'll have to go with older and noisier 250d. No Alcantara seats in AMG trim. It will get a facelift in 2018 so i'll buy an "old" car. Ride quality is so so and it's an entry level Mercedes.

Do's:
Estate looks a lot better then E estate. AMG trim makes it look really sporty. Still enough room for us inside. Cheaper then E class, faster then E class. Should be cheap to run because of that diesel engine.

- Mercedes GLC Coupe, GLC300, 4MATIC.
I didn't even consider this car because of the boot size. But everytime i look at it and sit in it, i'm in love.

Don'ts:
Expensive car. It costs more then E class T and it's a lot smaller.
Boot size is small. You can drop the rear seats down though and use the hight. Consumption is high with diesel engine and even higher with petrol engine.

Do's:
I could get this car with 250 or 300 petrol engine and 4MATIC + sporty exhaust. This combination is not avaliable in C or E class. Fun to drive, ride hight is great. Enough room inside (without the boot). Looks great (to me).

So it really comes down to "sensible" and a bit ugly E class T, good allaround but old C class T or a little crazy, unpractical and expensive GLC options.

Help?

I had the same choices. I went with the the GLC 300 Coupe! The heart won out over the brain. Traded in my beloved old CLS 500 - so you see, my head rarely wins. No regrets!
