Floor mat snap rings

Floor mat snap rings
I have a couple of floor mat retainer snap rings that have come out of the floor mat. It appears that they are two piece but don't seem to come apart.

How are these plastic retainers installed?




1. Do they come apart?
2. Are they installed into the carpet hole as one piece?

I found a site that sells these parts new and showed them as 2 halves. I was finally able to get them apart, but it's not easy. Thanks for being here MB World - Merry Christmas.
