2000 C230 Kompressor spewing smoke while on the highway

C 230 Kompressor
Question 2000 C230 Kompressor spewing smoke while on the highway
Greetings!
My daughter was driving down the highway when she noticed white smoke spewing from the exhaust. She noticed that the car was running hotter than normal. After stopping for about a 30 minutes, the engine temp was 90 degrees C! Is the car out of coolant, or is this situation more critical?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
