Mercedes A class 200 D SE
Lights won't automatically turn off

Hi there,

I have just purchased an A class 200 D SE from 2017 (automatic diesel).

So the question is - I have my lights set on automatic, they turn on automatically as I turn the car on at night time but as I finish the drive and get parked up, turn off the engine, get out and lock the vehicle the lights will stay on and will not turn off automatically. The only way to turn them off is to manually switch to parking lights and back to automatic, then they will be off. Is this normal? Or should they automatically turn off while on auto when the car is off and locked?

Thanks.

Are you sure that they don't turn off after a minute or two? I don't know about the A-Class, but I believe my E-Class has a setting where you can adjust how long the lights stay on after the car is shut off. I can't recall whether MB has a name for this feature, but BMW calls it "Follow Me Home".
