First ticket, some question

Hi all, got pulled over today in Virginia with a ticket for illegal tints and another for having a tinted plate cover. If I just remove the back plate cover and go to court, does that mean I won't have to pay that ticket? I plan to keep the window tint and just pay the fine. How would that process work? Also, I will be out of the country on my scheduled court date, is that something I can call the court to have rescheduled or am I out of luck?

One can always call the Court but bear in mind they have heard everything by now. IRT the window tint; if you don't have it removed, you will fail inspection every time.

I've never failed inspection because of tint... so I guess I'll just pay the fine for the plate cover, however much that is. Not worth going through showing proof of purchased flights and everything?
