2000 E320 AWD
Starmark Certified benz
I'll be getting my first MB, a 2000 E320 AWD with 36,600 miles on it from dealer on Friday. It has been starmark certified. It' original purchase date was 10/1/00 so I think I still have a couple of months of regular warranty left? I'm suppose to get an additional 12 months with the starmark program. Do I need to buy the additional 12, 24 or 36 month starmark warranty for this type of preowned MB? JG

How much are they asking for the additional years on Starmark?

Thanks for responding. Starmark warranty prices for "E" class after the free 12 months is:
$895.00 for 12 months, $1295.00 for 24 months and $1750.00 for 36 months at the Starmark Component Coverage Plan or about half that for Powertrain Component Coverage only. Always thought that MB's didn't require extra protection due to being so well made? JG

Also, you can negotiate the price. I paid $1495 for the additional 36 months.

Forget about the powertrain-only flavor. That is not what you will need coverage for. The repairs that cause death by a thousand cuts are electrical, suspension, various sensors, etc.
I'd go with the 3 year coverage. It will pay for itself as soon as the ubiquitous check engine light comes on once or twice.

I have about 8 months left on my Starmark on my 1995 C 280 and I wouldn't be without a warranty if I were you. Given mine is a solidly built car, I've gooten my money's worth out of that warranty.

I recommend getting as long an extended warranty as possible. Like the comment made, the insurance for peace of mind down the road is worth it.

The Starmark on my 2001 CLK has already paid for itself in 2 visits to the workshop. One for the Alternator and one for the differential.
I HIGHLY recommend the 36 month plan...
