GLC300 spare tire
Good morning. I'm brand new to this forum. After an 8 year departure following 15 years of Mercedes ownership, I'm considering getting back into the fold and leasing a 2019 GLC300. This vehicle comes standard with so-called extended mobility tires, and apparently no provision whatsoever for fitting any sort of temporary spare under the cargo floor. Yes, I understand with run-flat tires there's supposedly no need for a spare. Call me old-fashioned, but I've never driven a vehicle that didn't carry a spare tire. Has anyone seen or modified this model to fit a spare tire? Thanks.

You're not alone. Lots of BMW drivers, specifically the latest X3, feel the same way you do that run flats are not a desired solution. I can't speak from experience, but the options seem to be to order an optional spare tire from the manufacturer, if the option exists, or carry a spare of your choosing. The spare should be secured in the rear cargo area to avoid unwanted movement in the event of a collision.

Thanks. I see how BMW offers a $150 spare tire option that involves re-configuring the area under the cargo floor to fit it (apparently far more expensive to have the dealer do this vs the factory option). But no such option from MB. I did see right after I first posted related posts showing an inflatable spare being squeezed in under the cargo floor of a GL300. But the salesman told me there's no blank space underneath all those molded surfaces, such that there's no way to fit a spare. I'm guessing he was feeding me a line?
