2015 C300 vs 2016 C300 vs 2014 E350
Could I hear your advice for these vehicles. The ones I have found all do not have any accident record and relatively low km (C300s below 50k and E350 below 20k). They are all in the same price range. Not from a Merc dealership but I am close with my local mechanic. I enjoy doing my work on the car from time to time.
How reliable is the first year 2015 C300 and were there any major improvements for 2016? And what's your thoughts about buying a near perfect E350 in terms of its last few years before the new one?
I enjoy both driving types so it doesn't matter if I get the sporty feel from the C or the premium comfort feel from the E. My concern with E is the lack of bell and whistles but I really love the design. The C I like but I'm afraid of all the problems it had without warranty.
Any thoughts? Thank you.
The E350 uses the M276 3.5L naturally aspirated V6 with the 7G-Tronic transmission. This is a reliable combination, although the early units had timing change tensioner issues. Check the engine number against this reference to see if the engine is affected: https://diag.net/msg/m7gexhtjw6zhdfyqbk520fguau
My recommendation is to buy the newest, lowest mileage vehicle that meets your transportation requirements. Do you need the space available in the E-Class?
