I am looking at an SL. I have found two available -- black and obsidian black. Any advantage to getting it in the metallic black--obsidian? Will it show less swirls and dirt?

Right. If you get the metallic black it will show less swirls and you'll get the cleaner effect. It also looks better if the sun is shining ![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Well that's my opinion![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
Good luck and show us some pics if you get one...

The obsidian black is looks a lil lighter than black and not quite as deep a shine, but I have a 140 coupe 99 cl500 obsidian black and I love it and so do those who see it!

Had a '98 wagon in Obsidian Black and "hated" it. Showed swirls, dirt, and never really looked clean. Get the solid black...it looks great (when clean.)
Changed to Pewter as you can see from the sig...:-)
