Mars red paint issue: FYI there is class action lawsuit
I recently found there is a class action lawsuit against MB for their terrible treatment of owners with this issue, and pretty blatant violation of warranty laws in the US. Though I am not part of the suit myself, I am looking to join or file separately based upon resolution of the initial class action suit.
I am an owner of a 2014 GLK 350 in mars red. About two years ago I noticed there were blisters starting to form all over the car. This was during the initial warranty period, so I contacted MB corporate to start a claim. They sent representatives to my local dealership, and after examining the issue, which had already gotten pretty severe (every panel on the car had some blistering and paint pops), I was told they were not going to do anything about it because they didn’t think it was a big deal.
Now, two years later, my car is nearly entirely covers in blisters. To make matters worse, about a week ago I had my car parked outside during the day on a rainy day, and the combination of that and a some leaves from a nearby tree falling on my car left me with a severely damaged paint job. In less than a day, my car had permanent oak leaf shaped white blotches all over it.
To put it frankly, I am extremely **** about my car care and regularly wash and wax the vehicle. I do everything I can to take god care of my car, but it is a loosing battle against what is ultimately a defective factory paint job. Now I have a car that looks terrible, has clear coat either blotched or just peeling off.
This is a travesty and, to me, MB has lost all credibility as a company. I am not the only one who has had this happen, hence the class action suit.
I post this to give hope to any others experiencing this issue that there may be legal recourse against the blatant negligence of Mercedes.
I loved my car, but never again will I buy a Mercedes. They are just a worthless company to me. I know others have had better experiences, but mine is terrible. I will gladly go back to Volvo or maybe try a good German company like BMW.
Here is what my car looks like now. You can clearly see the blisters and leaf shaped blotches. Heck, you can even make out what sort of tree it was.
