Do new Mercedes still have that old Mercedes feel?

Do new Mercedes still have that old Mercedes feel?
Hi Everyone
I currently have a 1986 500SEC and my daily car is a Jaguar XE. I really like the Jag but I'm going to in the market soon for a new car. I am interested in a new Merc, but I want a Merc which still has that big solid, executive feel like the older Mercs. I assume the obvious model would be the S Class, however an estate model would suit my needs a lot more! Are any models in the current range, or in the last 3 or 4 years which really stand out?

I've driven all manner of Mercedes cars from a 1985 W126 560SEL to a 2020 W205. I own a W212. They all feel like Mercedes, but each design era of Mercedes feels different. And it never fails that people who own/love one era of Mercedes always accuse the next of feeling like a Toyota.
My recommendation: lots of test driving.

New M-Bs do not feel like their counterparts from the 1980s.
Today's M-B ride emphasizes comfort, in the non-AMG models. AMG models receive comments on this site as being too harsh, for those people that are apparently less performance-oriented.
M-B body stiffness and structure is better than many (most?) of today's cars, but does not feel like a 1980s Mercedes.
Agree with the recommendation above to test drive.

2003 SL500, 1991 500SL
I had a 2000 S500. Didn't seem solid and tank like the way the older S classes. Still, it was a great car and would be my choice over a W126 or W140. When I tried a W221 it seemed very Mercedes like. Haven't ever driven a W222.
And the SL55 is probably as fine as any car Mercedes has made bar none. Steve Jobs liked them so much he arranged with a leasing company to always be in one that was no more than 6 months old.
