looking for advice on 2 options for a scanner

Hello MBworld,
I'm looking to purchase a scanner to use on my vehicles having model years ranging from 1999 to 2006.
Have been considering 2 options-

A) icarsoft MB ii, which has good reviews but costs more than next option ,
B) this ebay offering:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/XENTRY-Star...sAAOSw8V9eT2JQ
this is cheaper than the first option , as I've got a laptop laying around that should have enough processor and RAM to run the software. The seller has good reviews , but I'm worried that I won't get it to run as it should. Is this option worth a try ?

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated .
Thank you,
AZmlcl

For the Xentry, do you have a multiplexer and cables to go with the software ?
The icarsoft is ok, I have a Autel myself and it does what I need, the Launch is pretty good too, but with these scanners you get what you pay for, my Autel was $1000 AU so about $500 US

I do not have a multiplexer. I asked the seller if all I needed was a laptop and OBD ii / usb cable , and he said yes.

I dont' have a multiplexer and am afraid to ask how much one goes for - This appears to be getting more involved for what I am trying to do, which in reality is to read as many codes from as many modules in my cars as possible, get some real time data, and reset error codes as needed. I don't want to change settings.
Many thanks for pointing that out - Guess I got exited and forgot how to read !!!! I'd rather be embarrassed here than spend $$ needlessly.
So how do those that have the icarsoft MB ii like it ???

I think for what you need to do a Icarsoft MBII will do, like I said before with these items you get what you pay for.
A $20 budget scanner will give you engine codes, a $150 scanner will give you engine codes and SRS, possibly some other features, you get what I mean.

You find this out after trying a few different scanners, you can scan with one you think is good, clear codes and get a higher end one and it will give you a more deeper scan and bring up codes that the first one didnt see, plus more function to do repairs etc.
