I don't lease, so no personal experience, but as posted on mbusa.com, MBFS has temporarily suspended the lease end pre-inspection and said that certain dealerships are currently not accepting lease returns. Somebody posted it on another thread earlier this week. The problem is that they can't get rid of the cars. Many wholesale auctions are shut down or were forced to go digital. Wholesale auction volume is down over 80% and prices have nosedived. There aren't auction buyers, so dealerships are running out of space to store the lease returns and the leasing companies are trying to stem the nose bleeding with the values of the cars in the toilet, so they are trying to offer lease extensions to wait out the current situation. Some customers may even prefer this, as they might be hesitant to return their car at the moment, with sales departments essentially closed and production only slowly restarting. My neighbor had leased a GLE 43, and her lease was up the day before the lockdown started here. She rushed into returning it and lease a new C300 instead that the dealer had in inventory. She doesn't like it much and later found out that she'll be working from home for quite a while, so the car is just sitting around now. She's been drooling over my C63S Coupe, ever since I got it
