Advice on CPO GLE350 purchase from nearby (Northern NJ) MB dealerships?
We've both looked over the online inventory, and it seems like a 2018 CPO GLE 350 is a decent choice based on her needs and wants.
She'd prefer something under 30k miles and under $40k in price.
Is there anything to be concerned about, assuming we can negotiate a decent price and have the vehicle inspected independently by a mechanic?
Thanks
Reading through the W166 GLE section of this site will provide more context for you. Good luck with the purchase, and post photos when it comes home with you!
Two questions:
1. Does anyone know if there's much room for negotiation on the list price when dealing with an MB dealership these days? For example, if I check cars.com and see a few matching vehicles around $37k-$39k, is it
feasible to get a final price of $35k or below with my local dealership(s)?
2. Alternatively, if my local 'ships have cheaper models which have 45-50k miles on them, is there any reason to avoid them because of the extra mileage, or is it really not an issue, assuming clean history and good inspection result?
Thanks again.
2. Higher mileage means closer to end of factory warranty, or zero factory warranty remaining. Price goes down accordingly. Potential repair cost goes up. Have you ever owned a German vehicle out of warranty? It can, and often does, get expensive.
We have an ML430 from 2000, and in the last 20 years, we've put only 60-70k miles on it. The MB CPO warranty seems pretty comprehensive, even if short in duration. I'm just concerned about the additional wear and tear
that 15-20k miles represents. But with a 2018 model, we should have 2-3 years under warranty (including the extra year for CPO).
As long the warranty is active, any structural/mechanical/electrical issues should be covered, no? (not including normal wear and tear on wiper blade inserts, tires, pads, etc.)
I had a 2005 E500 many years ago, and definitely remember taking it to the shop.
