Good luck on your factory builds!!
Hey Gang,
I caught this article on Car and Driver and this is going to be the first signs of impact on factory builds for all German automakers. I pray to you guys who have cars on order and those for 2003's that are coming out soon:
Germany's biggest industrial union launched a series of one-day walkouts at several automaker and supplier plants, The Associated Press reported.
IG Metall, with 2.7 million members, is pushing for a 6.5 percent pay increase and says it will strike until it achieves an "acceptable result," the story said.
The walkouts began at a Daimler-Chrysler plant in Sindelfingen, near the company's headquarters in Stuttgart, and spread to 20 companies around the country, including Porsche, Audi, more DaimlerChrysler plants, U.S.-based tractor maker John Deere in Mannheim, auto supplier Delphi Automotive in Neckarsulm, and Krupp Automotive in Stuttgart, the AP reported.
At Porsche, 2,500 workers took a day off, resulting in a production loss of 145 911s and Boxster sports cars worth 10 million euros ($9 million) in sales, the story said.
Thank god I'm in no rush to get a new car.
