Mercedes and their damn Torx bits
Never had to use a torx bit on a car until I got my Mercedes C250. Anything I can think of removing on the car needs a torx bit. Now it’s easy to just buy a set of these bits at a hardware store.
I had to replace the timing tensioner on my car recently but had to MacGyver a cam lock with a rubber belt because Mercedes decided that they need a T100 tamper proof to secure the phasers.
I realized that my exhaust cam phaser doesn’t lock so it rattles until oil pressure builds so now I need to replace it. This special torx bit isn’t able to be bought or rented anywhere near me so I have to order it online just to use it once.
These cars are cool and all, but god damn their tools are like a new language. I understand metric and standard, now I need space for Torx.
Why did Mercedes make Torx standard?
